TOUR OF STEEL PLANT, interesting experience!

Today I joined an expedition to a steel plant in the heart of the Zambian industrial area.

The steel plant which commenced full scale operations in January 2011 is from Tanzania and has invested US$20 million for the first phase as it is in production of corrugated roofing sheets that has installed capacity of 4,000 tons a month and employing about 200 people.

We spoke the director finance and administration Nareana Jain who explained that the company has been meeting its 4,000 tones production targets earlier set prior to commencement of large scale production.

The Director explained that the plant has so far been supplying galvanized steel rolls that other steel plants are using in their production of roofing sheets.

The Finance Minister Situmbeko Musokotwane was equally pleased with what he saw at the plant and the fact that hundreds of Zambians are employed.

He however urged local persons to avoid discriminating against foreign investors saying the investment is for their own benefit.

The plant site is a marvel and interesting to be at, I will share the information with you as i get more updates from the plant owners!
